Huntington’s Central City Truck Parts serves Class 8 trucks, pickups and autos

The new Central City Truck Parts shop is now available in Huntington to provide parts for vehicles in a range of sizes.

Central City Truck Parts specializes in Class 6 – 8 heavy duty trucks, but can also serve automobiles and light trucks. The enterprise is located in a renovated commercial space on 1503 Washington Avenue.

After years of learning about car and truck equipment while working for others, Blufford Blake felt driven to open his own business. Assisted by his brother Mike, Blufford partnered with his wife Aricia to get Central City Truck Parts up and running.

“We saw a need in the tristate area for truckers to be able to obtain new and remanufactured parts,” said Blufford. “We wanted to make that help available when truckers are stranded and unable to operate.”

The Blakes approached the West Virginia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for help. Amber Wilson, the SBDC business coach located in the Robert C. Byrd Institute Huntington Center, worked with them on preparing a business plan. Business coaches like Wilson operate from SBDC offices distributed across West Virginia. They collaborate with other business coaches in the statewide network to help entrepreneurs start, sustain and expand their businesses.

Although the SBDC does not give grants or loans, business coaches can help align clients with capital access opportunities. Wilson helped the Blakes examine financial options for their startup business.

Central City Truck Parts is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. For more information about the business, call 681-378-3539.

The West Virginia Small Business Development Center is part of the West Virginia Development Office and creates economic impact through offering entrepreneurs and small businesses cost-effective business coaching and technical assistance.
