CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC) will highlight its new Innovation-Technology program during Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day at the West Virginia State Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 5. WV SBDC will exhibit with TechConnect West Virginia from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The WV SBDC will use this new program to help entrepreneurs with products driven by innovation or technology. Services include help with planning to launch a new business to applying for Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer financial grants, which are major sources of early-stage capital for technology commercialization. Deborah Magyar, WV SBDC program coordinator for Innovation-Technology, will be available to discuss the initiative with exhibit visitors.
One Stop Small Business Resource kiosk
Also on Feb. 5, staff from the WV SBDC and Secretary of State’s Office will present a new kiosk at the West Virginia One Stop Business Center in Charleston from 4-5:30 p.m.
The new kiosk provides another avenue for business owners to access information about WV SBDC services and resources, such as business coaches and workshops.
Visitors can tour the facility and watch demonstrations of the kiosk in the customer reception area at 4:15, 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner and WV SBDC Director Debra Martin are scheduled to give remarks at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
SBIR/STTR bootcamp series
WV SBDC and TechConnect West Virginia are partnering to host a series of bootcamps across the state to help business owners learn more about the application process for Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer grants. Participants will learn how to develop a proposal, how to write a successful grant application and how to navigate the registration process.
