CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Business Coach Doug Spaulding is being honored as West Virginia’s 2022 State Star, announced Steve Johnson, state director for the West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC).
Spaulding joins the ranks of honorees from each state who were announced in August 2022. America’s SBDC will be celebrating all the outstanding SBDC employees from each network at the 42nd annual conference, September 6-9th, 2022 at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego, CA.
The criteria for State Stars include being an exemplary performer, making a significant contribution to their state or SBDC program, and showing a strong commitment to small businesses.
“I am thankful and honored to be selected as this year’s State Star with the WV SBDC. Small Business is my passion and helping my clients succeed is a rewarding experience,” Spaulding said.
Spaulding has helped hundreds of business owners and entrepreneurs for more than a decade as a business coach for the West Virginia Small Business Development Center. His expertise and business experience over the past 30 years enable him to advise and coach on a professional level allowing him to empathize with his clients plights and revel in their successes because he has lived it by owning and operating a dozen different businesses, some small with no employees, to businesses with more than 50.
Spaulding holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Marshall University and is a Certified Business Advisor, but he says the experiences of being in the trenches and learning from experience by owning his own businesses was the best business education one could receive.
Spaulding supports clients from the WV SBDC in the southern region of the state.
Spaulding is part of the WV SBDC statewide network of business coaches who provide confidential one-on-one consulting for small businesses interested in starting and growing in the Mountain State.
