CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Business Coach Sharon Stratton is being honored as West Virginia’s 2021 State Star, announced Debra Martin, state director for the West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC).

Stratton joins the ranks of honorees from each state who were announced in August 2021 by America’s SBDC. The State Stars will be recognized during the America’s SBDC virtual annual conference, Sept. 21 – 24, 2021.

The criteria for State Stars include being an exemplary performer, making a significant contribution to their state or SBDC program, and showing a strong commitment to small business.

“This marks the second time Sharon has been selected as West Virginia SBDC State Star, a rare honor,” said WV SBDC State Director Debra Martin. “Her selection reflects her outstanding dedication and ability to help her clients get started, improve performance and grow.”

She is a graduate of both West Virginia University and Frostburg State University. She has a Master of Business Administration. Stratton served with the Maryland SBDC before joining WV SBDC in 1992. She earned a Certified Business Advisor (CBA) certificate by completing graduate level programs with focus on marketing, accounting/finance and human resources.

Stratton supports clients from the WV SBDC center in Morgantown.

She is part of the WV SBDC statewide network of business coaches who provide confidential one-on-one consulting for small businesses interested in starting and growing in the Mountain State.
