Since 2010, Americans have celebrated Small Business Saturday and an estimated 108 million consumers have shopped on Small Business Saturday, making it one of the most impactful days of the year for small business owners.

Sharon was selected to be a 2019 Small Business Saturday Neighborhood Champion by the Small Business Team at American Express in which she distributed Shop Small branded merchandise to Morgantown small businesses to prepare them for the big day. By promoting the Shop Small Movement, small business owners can attract customers near and far to support their locally owned business and help their communities thrive.

Businesses who received Shop Small themed goods were WVSBDC clients who have sought small business guidance from Sharon. WVSBDC’s mission is to support entrepreneurs and small business owners in every stage of the business lifecycle. This nationally recognized holiday is one way for the WVSBDC and consumers alike to show their support for these one of a kind brick-and-mortar businesses.

Specialty shops in Morgantown who received Shop Small swag were Wild Birds Unlimited, Penn & Co, Hoot & Howl, Regions Services African Foods and the Elegant Alley Cat. WVSBDC encourages all small businesses across the state to visit their Facebook page during the month of November to promote their business for the holiday season by tagging their business page on the Drink, Eat, Play and Shop Local themed posts.
