CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC) has named Julia Moran as a new business coach for the Putnam Center, covering Kanawha, Mason and Putnam counties.

Previously, Moran was a claims specialist for the West Virginia State Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division. A graduate of Marshall University, she has built a career centered on client care, financial planning and wealth management. Her experience spans banking, trust services and financial advisory roles, including leadership positions at BB&T, Retirement Planning Group of West Virginia and Fourth Avenue Financial. 

“We are thrilled to have Julia join the WV SBDC team. She brings excellent experience as an entrepreneur and will make a valuable new member of our coaching staff,” said WV SBDC Director Will Miller.

Beyond her professional work, Moran is a founding member of West Side Main Street, an economic development nonprofit supporting small businesses in Charleston. She spearheaded its signature fundraiser, OktoberWest, which continues to bring the community together. She also serves on the board of Hope for Appalachia, helping families affected by addiction.

Moran serves as part of the statewide network of WV SBDC business coaches. The WV SBDC assists entrepreneurs and small business owners at every stage of the business lifecycle by providing business coaching and technical assistance to help clients clarify goals, develop skills, and acquire resources to operate a successful enterprise.
