CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC), a division of West Virginia Department of Economic Development, announces Robert “Buc” Hammer is joining the agency as its new business coach in the Potomac Highlands.

Based on the campus of Potomac State College in Keyser, the Potomac Highlands Center provides WV SBDC services in Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Mineral, Pendleton and Tucker counties

“The Potomac Highlands region is home to tremendous economic potential, with its agriculture, scenic and recreational tourism attractions, and technology such as the Hyperloop Certification Center,” said WV SBDC Director Debra Martin. “Buc has more than 30 years as an executive in corporate environments, as well as hands-on experience as a successful entrepreneur. This combination will well serve the area’s small businesses wanting to start or ready to expand.”

A native of West Virginia, Hammer graduated from Davis & Elkins College with a bachelor’s degree in management and finance. He has served as a chief financial officer and chief executive officer in the medical field. He has also owned and operated retail and food service businesses. Hammer has extensive experience in financial management, financial forecasting, strategic planning and working with the public.
