No-cost one-on-one confidential business advising

Our business coaching services are offered at no cost, with no catch. This is possible because we are funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the West Virginia Development Office, with generous support from several host institutions and local sponsors.

Minimal to no-cost trainings

  • The WV SBDC has various virtual and in-person trainings that focus on the needs of businesses in the community. From business fundamentals to social media marketing, you’ll find training that answers your most important questions.

Experienced, Professional Business Coaches

  • Receive practical advice from our network of trusted advisors who are versed in a broad spectrum of business knowledge, including developing a viable business plan, marketing, innovation, technology and management skills.

Financial Resource Connections

  • Although the WV SBDC does not give loans or grants, we can help business owners locate and apply for funding. Our business coaches can connect you with various lenders, public agencies and non-profits who can help identify the resources that will work best for you.

How to Sign Up

  • To sign up for business advising, please go to the Our Team page, select the business coach closest to you, and select the Become a Client button. This step will lead you to create an account with the WV SBDC.  A business coach will then contact you to make an appointment to go over next steps. Please note that WV SBDC services are for for-profit entities with fewer than 500 employees.

What to Expect

  •  As a client of the WV SBDC, you have certain rights and responsibilities. You can expect business advising at no charge, strict confidentiality of the information you provide to us, unbiased recommendations and non-disclosure of trade secrets. In return, your responsibility it to assist us in our efforts to measure the impact and improve the quality of the services we provide.  Your candid feedback is critical to the success of our program.

  • The WV SBDC offers a variety of trainings instructed by our business coaches, partners and subject matter experts offered in person or online. Our content ranges from introductory to advanced topics to help you gain small business management skills.
